SLIPSTREAM SPORTS LLC ANNOUNCES "GET IN THE
SLIPSTREAM" WINNER
Joe Yule of Redondo Beach, California, Named Official Designer of the
Slipstream/Chipotle 2008 Team Jersey
Las Vegas, NV - September 27, 2007 - The fans have spoken and Joe Yule,
a graphic designer and avid cyclist from Redondo Beach, California, has
been selected as the winner of the "Get in the Slipstream"
contest, sponsored by Slipstream Sports LLC and its chief venture, the
Slipstream/ Chipotle Professional Cycling Team. The first-of-its-kind
contest invited fans to submit design ideas for the official 2008 Team
Slipstream/Chipotle jersey.
A panel of judges, including Doug Ellis and Jonathan Vaughters, selected
the five finalists who they felt best incorporated the team's
orange and blue argyle, as well as logos for Chipotle, Felt and
Slipstream Sports. Then, the voting opened up to the public and
cycling enthusiasts around the world were encouraged to go to
www.slipstreamsports.com to vote on the winning designer. Again, the
fans spoke and Slipstream/Chipotle today announced that Joe will become
the designer of the official team jersey, worn by the team in and out
of competition for the entire 2008 season. Joe, founder of Yule Design,
a graphic design company, will also receive a full team kit, a Felt
team issue bicycle and jersey autographed by the team members. He will
work hand-in-hand with Slipstream/Chipotle to finalize the official
team jersey for the 2008 season.
"Designing Slipstream/Chipotle's jersey is a dream come true for
me," said Joe. "It's been my lifelong ambition to have a
professional kit in the peloton, and the fact that Slipstream - a team
renown for being clean and setting a new example for all professional
sports - is that team, exceeds my wildest expectations.
The contest, which kicked off on August 31, 2007, garnered over 600
unique designs from entrants around the globe.
"Slipstream/Chipotle fans are, in our estimation, a part of the
team itself," said Jonathan Vaughters. "With that spirit in
mind, we decided to undertake this contest. We were honored by the
outpouring of entrants and support we received, and we are incredibly
excited to work with Joe to create the final 2008 team jersey."

Greetings!
With fall
approaching, the end of a long racing season draws near. Over
the Last few weeks Team Slipstream-Chipotle has continued to
build momentum for 2008. Will Frischkorn dominated the field
and won the Univest Grand Prix with Timmy Duggan finishing 4th.
Traveling to Missouri the next day, the squad gave another
glimpse of things to come in 2008. 2nd and 5th on GC, the best
overall team award, and a stage 5 win are clear signals that
Slipstream-Chipotle is moving upward and onward for 2008.
Further updates and news can be found on the
team website so check back often to keep up with Team
Slipstream powered by Chipotle.
Tour of
MissouriWill Frischkorn, Meatball Friedman finish 2nd and 5th on
GC.
Team Slipstream-Chipotle dominated the Tour of Missouri winning
the overall team classification, taking 2nd and 5th on G.C.,
culminating with Danny Pate winning stage 5 in dramatic fashion
after attacking the break of the day.
As is typical in late season racing, the overall classification
is often decided by a breakaway with the right mix of riders
going for the overall win, stage 2 at the Tour of Missouri
proved no different. Gaining over 10 minutes on the rest of the
bunch, the breakaway of 12 worked well together and left the
stage win for constant attacking in the last 10k. Ultimately,
George Hincapie proved the strongest rider, covering numerous
attacks and taking final sprint.
Stage 2 set things up for the decisive Stage 3 individual time
trial, ultimately won by Levi Leipheimer. The GC however was
left to the 12 riders in the stage 2 breakaway, Frischkorn took
advantage and rode into 2nd overall on GC with a strong 12th
place finish.
The team continued to race aggressively all week in Missouri,
highlighted when Danny Pate gracefully departed from the stage 5
breakway to give the argyle solute in St. Charles, MO. When all
was said and done, Slipstream-Chipotle dominated the 2007 Tour
of Missouri with an eye on 2008. |
